Anyone who likes photography, if you are just starting out or if you are a pro, you are encouraged to come!  People come from Forest City to Osage to get together.  Most of us are now shooting digital, but some are shooting film.  This is a great place to come if you:

  • Want to stimulate your photo taking creativity
  • Learn more about techniques, equipment, and your camera
  • Get more of a vision for taking photos
  • Have a place to share some of your work and talk about photos you have taken
  • Enjoy talking with others who love taking photos!

Each meeting we show and talk about photos we have taken, get some input on something, and have a place to share and ask questions.  A digital projector is there for people taking photos on cds.  Tables are set up to display prints.  We ask you to restrict your photos to 3, no more than 5.  Each month there is a theme to shoot for.  There is also an OPEN category for taking any photo you want to take.  We also will have occasional outings.

WHEN are the Meetings?

We usually meet the 3rd Thursday of the month, though at times we will change the week.  We meet from 7 – 9 PM.

WHERE do we meet?

We meet at the Rolling Acres Christian Reformed Church (this web site), 340 19th Street S.W. in Mason City, in the big room at the north entrance.

HOW do you know WHEN we meet?

We depend on emails.  Give us your email and we will put you on our mailing list.  If you do not have an email, we can use a phone number.

Many of us go places shooting photos from the nearest prairie plot, our backyard, or to the mountains!  I often feel like John Muir, “The mountains are calling, and I must go.”  But I also like to stress appreciating what we have right here.  That is why I have really come to love doing prairie photography.  [Jack]
